3 cPanel & WHM Add-ons For Fighting Spam Email

Being a hosting provider isn’t easy. We get that. There are many unforeseeable occurrences that can put a damper on your service — however, spam email shouldn’t be one of them. We’ve highlighted three cPanel & WHM add-ons that you can use to fight incoming spam, malware, and viruses on your server and, ultimately, offer your customers a better experience.

SpamStopsHere is a unique, multilayer filter system that uses four criteria levels to weed out spam and malicious content, while permitting spamstopshere-email-protection-cloud1legitimate email, with a nearly 99.5% success rate. The first layer, the IP Blacklist, flags any email sent from known spam servers. The next layer scans the document for URLs associated with spam. The third layer scans it for strange phrases, rather than keywords, linked to malicious content. Finally, the last layer scans the format of the document for tricks often used by spammers to bypass normal email clients. This robust, dynamic process lessens server load and should make your customers pretty happy.

We have been using Spam Experts since 2011 (so, 6 years, as of this post). We couldn’t be more happy with their service. There are multiple ways to use this product… filter the entire server, either incoming or outgoing or both… or filter individual domains. It can be cloud based, or you can run your own server. Our experience is only with incoming filtering, and only for individual domains (by changing MX records, and altering Exim so it knows if a spammer tries to bypass the proper MX records). Spam Experts was acquired by another company, SolarWinds, in August 2017. It remains to be seen what changes, if any, will take place. As the product exists today, I can wholeheartedly recommend the service.

This article is very good and informative. I was looking for an article like this to answer my queries. Thank you for your information. I will look forward to read more of your blogs.

  • These are great suggestions. I would suggest adding these in the Addon section of WHM so they can be installed/uninstalled in one click, this will make them accessible to everyone much easier.
